04/12/2012 - Oshtemo Armed Home Invasion Results in Three Arrests, One Still SoughtOn Thursday, 4/12/2012 at 1:25 AM, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department and Michigan State Police responded to a report of a home invasion in progress involving a firearm on Suffield Court, Huntington Run Mobile Home Park in Oshtemo Township.
When deputies arrived on scene, the victim stated she was home with her children when a unknown male kicked in her front door and demanded unspecified items at gunpoint. The victim stated the suspect took a computer device and then fled the scene.
The Michigan State Police were able to locate a witness in the immediate area who gave a license plate of a suspicious vehicle which had just fled the area at a high rate of speed. This information was distributed to area departments.
Within several minutes, an officer with the Portage Department of Public Safety located the suspect vehicle on Oakland Dr. After a short pursuit the vehicle was stopped on Duke Street. Two of the four occupants fled the vehicle. One suspect was apprehended by a Portage officer and a firearm was located near where the suspect was taken into custody. The other suspect who fled was tracked by the Kalamazoo Depatment of Public Safety K9 unit and is still at large at the time of this press release.
A total of three suspects were taken into custody on charges of Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and numerous outstanding bench warrants. Click here to view all news items
